APST inspiring other govt. departments

Most of the revenue earning departments of Arunachal has been repeatedly failing to generate enough money, forcing state government to totally depend on central fund to carry out developmental activities. Departments like tourism, horticulture, environment and forest, tax & excise which is all considered to be potential revenue generation organs of state has not been able to achieve the desired target. In the midst of all this, the news about Arunachal Pradesh State Transport (APST) Service collecting a whopping amount of Rs 16.20 crore revenue during the 2013-14 fiscal year, will sure bring smile to the face of every citizen of this state.

It is dream of every Arunachalee to be self sufficient in every field so that we don’t have to depend on Delhi government to initiate any developmental activities. APST has surpassed its earlier record of revenue collection. During the 2012-13 financial years, they had collected Rs 15.40 crore. The present team led by its General Manager Abu Tayeng deserves appreciation for such achievement. Huge chunk of Arunachalee citizen especially those living in interior area still depend on APST for transportation. It is for the interest of these Arunachalees that APST should continue running bus services and churn out revenue too. In true sense they have become an example for every govt. department to emulate.

Govt. officials are lazy

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily I would like to highlight the problems faced by common man due to absenteeism and laziness of the officials and staffs of various department in East Siang district. I had submitted a form to get ST certificate and my friend had applied for permit from Forest department Pasighat on March-03-2014.The staffs of the concerned office directed me to come after one week i.e. on 10-03-14.

As directed I went back on 10th March (Monday), again the staff told me,"abhi saab nai he,ek safta ke baad kabar karo". Since then I have travelled from Mebo to Pasighat more than dozen times resulting in the loss of my precious time and hard earned money. Hoping to get my work done before general election, I again went to forest office on 05-04-14, to my utter dismay again the officials directed me to come after election vote cast is over. And now after the election is over they are directing me to come after the results are out. I would like to ask is there a rule that no official works be continued before election results are out. If yes, it’s okay, if no then I urge the deputy commissioner East Siang district to take strong action against those erring officials.

Yours,

K.Tayeng
